GETTING HERE: Belize City International Airport (BZE) is a short non-stop flight away from many cities in the United States, Canada, and throughout Central America. Once in Belize, you can choose to take a 30-minute commuter flight down the coast to Placencia and our staff will pick you up from the airport. Or, if you prefer, hire a shuttle driver or simply rent a car and drive here (approx. 2 hours).
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get to Placencia from Belize City (BZE)?
After landing at Belize City International Airport, you can take a short 25-minute flight with Maya Island Air or Tropic Air, hire a shuttle (we recommend Untame Belize), or rent a car for the scenic ~2-hour coastal drive. We provide one complimentary transfer to and from the Placencia landing strip.
Should I rent a car?
Many guests rent a car for more freedom to explore (including a waterfall about 30 minutes away). The house includes a 6-person golf cart that works well for nearby groceries, restaurants, and the peninsula. Some groups rely only on the golf cart (and rent a second one if needed), but it takes about 30 minutes to reach Placencia Village.
How does the private chef service work?
For stays of 7 nights or longer, you receive 9 complimentary chef-prepared meals, snacks, or desserts (grocery costs are separate). Additional main dishes are $45 each and desserts/snacks are $25 each (plus groceries). Meals are served family-style. About a month before arrival we send a menu so you can choose in advance. Plan roughly $10–$15 per person per meal for groceries.
Do you pre-stock the house?
No. Past experiences showed guests often preferred to choose their own items. There’s a good grocery store (Publics) about 5 miles away in Seine Bight, and many guests buy alcohol at the Belize City airport.
Is the staff included?
yes! Consuela handles daily light cleaning and a mid-stay full changeover. Marvin maintains the grounds, beach, and pool each morning. Juan is the private chef.
Is tipping the staff expected?
Tipping is completely optional. Past guests have typically left $150–$900 USD per staff member (pooled and shared equally). Anything you choose to give is appreciated.
What outdoor amenities are included?
The house includes a 6-person golf cart, 3 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, and 4 bicycles.
How does the house sleep 12?
There are 5 king beds plus two twin-size cots that can be set up for children.
Can we use the piers?
The two piers on either side of the property are not owned by The Golden Spot. Under Belize law they are generally open for public use from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We ask that you be respectful of neighbors—if their guests are using a pier, please use the other one or wait.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you cancel at least 120 days before arrival, you receive a full refund minus a $250 cancellation fee. No refunds are given within 120 days of arrival.
How does the security deposit work?
The security deposit is a temporary hold on your card (similar to hotels). We do not charge it unless there is damage.
